February in First Grade

First graders LOVE February!  First, there's the Global School Play Day, THEN, the 100th day of school,  AND THEN comes Valentine's Day!  We are squeezing in some learning along the way, too.  No worries.  Did you know that 5+5=20-10?  Well, your first grader does!
Don't forget to use the tabs Monthly Resources - for links to TONS of curriculum related content that you can use to reinforce our in school learning at home with your students.

January in First Grade

This month, first graders are exploring non-fiction texts.  Our first informational book was about SNOW!  We learned a LOT of facts.  Did you know that snow AND high winds make a blizzard?  This week, first grade weather watchers are hoping for a snow storm - maybe even a snow day!

December in First Grade

This month, first graders are exploring fairy tales!  We're reading some of the classics - CinderellaThe Gingerbread Man, and The Princess and the Pea.  AND, we are going to read some fractured fairy tales, too.  We'll learn about comparing and contrasting stories, characters, settings, and happily ever afters.  Sometimes, we'll even do a little fairy tale math.  Here's a graph we made about how we'd bite into a gingerbread man cookie.  Which part would you bite?  Our most common bite is the head!  Happy holidays from all of your 1-H friends. xoxo
